Dominica views more informative workshops as critical
Dominica’s Ambassador to CARICOM H.E Felix Gregoire has expressed “great satisfaction” with the Spokespersons and Media training workshops which ran in Dominica from February 23 -25.
“From my personal observation and from report from the participants, it was clear that the workshops were very successful and inspired the participants who are using the information obtained on the CSME,” Ambassador Gregoire wrote in a letter of commendation dated March 11, 2015.
The Ambassador said he looked forward to the implementation of similar exercises as the region continued its journey towards full regional integration.
Dominica achieved some important objectives from the intensive three-day programme. Among them the launch of the Dominica Report Card quarterly Media conference, admittance of nineteen spokespersons to the CSME Speakers Bureau, and training of 15 media representatives representing all but one of Dominica’s media houses.
Ambassador Gregoire also singled out as an added bonus, a number of extended media interviews in both English and Creole given by the RAI trainer, which brought information on the CSM and the regimes to radio audiences. These interviews were achieved through the initiative of the trained media personnel, who have a better understanding of the role of the media as a channel for information flow on the CSME.
